Details
Ambient spherical lamp with power supply cord and plug supplied in white cardboard packaging.
The product presents a high risk of fire as the power supply unit had been fitted with a resistor between the live input and the live terminal of the rectifiers. Under fault conditions, the resistor may not break the circuit. During testing, the product glowed red hot and emitted smoke. The user could leave the USB adaptor switched on and only remove the USB cable from the device, which under fault conditions could cause the resistor to fail and overheat causing a fire. The product also failed the electrical strength test and the pins on the plug did not meet the requirements of the relevant standard, exposing the user to an electric shock hazard. Improvements are required to marking, labelling and documentation.
The product does not meet the requirements of the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016 or the Plugs & Sockets (Safety) Regulations 1994.
